Marcus is currently a Bioinformatics graduate student at the University of Michigan. His work primarily involves the detection and study of structural variations within the human genome. When not conducting research, Marcus also leads a group he founded called PyLIE (Python Language Immersion & Education) that aims to teach academics current "industry standards" and coding conventions. Furthermore, Marcus is one of the co-organizers for the Ann Arbor chapter of PyData--a monthly meetup group that "provides a venue for users across all the various domains of data analysis to share their experiences"
