Hands-on Beginning Python

Hello-

I am looking forward to PyCon and the Hands-on Beginning Python Tutorial. This is a fast paced tutorial intended to give programmers and motivated students a quick overview of the basic features of Python. Mixed between instruction will be some small assignments.

In order for you hit the ground running, please come to the Tutorial with the following:

  • A laptop with Python 2.6 or Python 2.7 installed.
  • A text editor you are comfortable with. If you do not have a preferred editor Notepad++ is a good Windows choice.

There will be an effort to get wifi access, but given that this is the first session on the first day there is no guarantee. Please download and install these beforehand.

The assignments will be distributed during the start of the Tutorial. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at matthewharrison@gmail.com.

I hope you enjoy your PyCon experience and that it starts off on the right note in our Tutorial.

cheers,

Matt (matthewharrison@gmail.com)
