Travis Oliphant received a PhD from Mayo Graduate School in Biomedical Engineering in 2001 and was an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering until 2007 at Brigham Young University. He was the original creator of SciPy which grew out of Multipack which he released in 1999. He was an original contributor to Numeric and wrote NumPy in 2005-2006. He has been an active participant in the Python community since 1997 most recently with Enthought, Inc.
