Matt Chaput is a technical writer, graphic designer, and self-taught programmer working at Side Effect Software Inc. in Toronto.

Side Effects Software Inc. are the creators of Houdini, a high-end 3D animation and special effects package used in film, games, and commercials, twice recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences for its breakthrough procedural technology.

To make the Houdini online help searchable, Matt learned Python and wrote Whoosh, a full-text indexing and search library.
