Pyramid Framework / Pylons Project
The Pylons Project is composed of a disparate group of project leaders with experience going back to the very start of Python web frameworks. Collectively, we have experience and humility gained by making (and surviving) every stupid decision that could be imagined. We aim to bring fresh ideas to classic web development problems.
Rather than focusing on a single web framework, the Pylons Project will develop a collection of related technologies. The first package from the Pylons Project was the Pyramid web framework. Other packages have been added to the collection over time, including higher-level components and applications. We hope to evolve the project into an ecosystem of well-tested, well-documented components which interoperate easily.
FOSS@MAGIC
FOSS@MAGIC is an applied research program, focusing on Free/Open Source Software and Open Web Technologies within the Center for Media, Arts, Games, Interaction, and Creativity (MAGIC) at Rochester Institute of Technology in Upstate NY. The program provides a positive learning environment for students learning how to contribute to the FOSS Community, supporting dozens of regional projects, meetups and hackathons each year. FOSS@MAGIC faculty and staff create, support and teach core courses for the first ever academic minor in Free/Open Source Software and Free Culture at a university in the United States. Recurse Center
The Recurse Center is a free, three-month programming retreat for people who want to become better programmers, regardless of if they've been coding for six months or twenty years. We have a supportive, diverse, energizing, and intellectually curious community, and we bring in phenomenal programmers in residence (past residents include Peter Norvig, Jessica McKellar, and Jacob Kaplan-Moss). We provide need-based grants for living expenses up to $7,000 for women, black people, Latino/as, and people from other groups traditionally underrepresented in programming.
