# The 6th Track - Explore Montréal!
PyCon 2014 is in the center of an exciting city full of great food, culture, and history. It would be a shame to not check it out while you're in town!
In addition to the conference's five tracks of talks, there will be a **sixth track** – an opportunity for you to explore Montréal. **These events are open to all PyCon attendees and those traveling with them to PyCon.**
Note: Meet by the PyCon registration desk at 11am each day. We'll head out from there. ### Guided Tour of Old Montréal (Friday) The conference venue is adjacent to Old Montréal, the historical part of the city. This tour will take you through narrow cobblestone streets lined with buildings that date as far back as the 1600s. We'll pass by many souvenir shops, galleries, and restaurants, as well as take in some of Montreal's landmarks. Since we're not too far from the conference centre, grabbing lunch at one of the restaurants along Rue St-Paul before heading back is a tasty possibility! *You'll be responsible for paying for your own lunch.*
### Museum Visits (Saturday) Visiting museums with friends is much more fun than doing it on your own! Gather by the registration desk at 11am and we'll break up into groups and visit some of Montréal's museums. Please let us know when you register which museums you are most interested in visiting. *You'll be responsible for paying for your own admission.* - ($20) Pointe a Callière Museum — a wonderful history museum which was originally an archaeological dig - ($12-$20) Montreal Museum of Fine Arts - ($12) Museum of Contemporary Art - (FREE) The Redpath Museum is a natural history museum — and it has a whale skeleton in it! - ($10) The Canadian Centre for Architecture always has great exhibits for the design-minded - ($18.75) Éspace pour la vie is a collection of nature-oriented attractions including the Planetarium, the Botanical Gardens and Insectarium, and the Biodôme which has penguins! - ($8) Écomusée du fier monde is a Montreal working class and industrial history museum
### Climb Mount Royal (Sunday) The city's namesake is Mount Royal — the hill in the middle of the city that Montrealers affectionately call ‘the Mountain’. It's surrounded by a forested park where you can easily forget you're in the middle of a city. We'll climb up to the Chalet du Mont Royal which has a fantastic view of the city, and then wander back down through the park. After the walk we'll be by the Plateau, a great neighbourhood to go and get some brunch in fine Montreal style. *You'll be responsible for paying for your own brunch.*
