Shane is a Ph.D student in Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he is a research analyst at the Earth Research Institute (ERI). His research includes using LiDAR and optical imagery to investigate vegetation structure, as well as work scaling remote sensing algorithms using SciDB. During the summer he works as a research mentor to young remote sensing scientists as part of the NASA Student Airborne Research Program (NASA SARP).
